Passion and Persistence

Originally from the Marche region on Italy’s Adriatic coast, Fabio Trabocchi is widely celebrated among the world's leading restaurateurs.  A Food & Wine Magazine Best New Chef and recipient of the esteemed James Beard Award, Trabocchi has passionately pursued the goal of creating a world class hospitality organization offering the finest dining experiences in the world. His growing restaurant group, with properties in Washington DC, Northern Virginia, Miami, and Venice, Italy, has brought him many accolades, yet his inspiration remains grounded in family traditions from Italy, Spain, and the United States.

Whether at his Michelin-starred fine dining flagship, Fiola; the Spanish seafood and tapas mecca, Del Mar; the glamorous destination for Italian coastal cuisine, Fiola Mare; or his neighborhood pasta house, Sfoglina - Trabocchi's signature remains an uncompromising commitment to quality and making guests feel special at every visit.

Since 2009, Trabocchi has built Fabio Trabocchi Restaurants into one of the preeminent restaurant groups in the world.  Trabocchi has received acclaim from media including The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Food & Wine, Esquire, Departures, GQ, CBS, NBC, Washingtonian, and dozens of others.

"The Trabocchis are committed to giving back to the community and supporting causes for which they feel a strong connection. For the last two years, Fabio and Maria have served as gala chairs for Refugees International."

Community & Philanthropy

Fabio is conscious of the group’s role in the driving economic growth in the city of Washington, D.C. and is proud to employ more nearly 600 people in the restaurants, many of whom started at entry level and have risen to be part of the management team. The group is active with numerous fundraisers and sponsorships in the community.

Fabio Trabocchi Restaurants stays involved with local government and agencies to promote development in the city, including the Penn Quarter Association, the Downtown DC Business Improvement District (BID), the Georgetown BID, the SW BID, Van Ness Main Street, the Rosslyn BID, and Destination DC, the city’s travel and tourism marketing organization.

Fabio is committed to giving back to the community and supporting causes for which he feels a strong connection, such as Refugees International. As an immigrant to the United States seeking a better life for himself and his family, Fabio understands the importance of the second chance that an organization like RI can provide for refugees in terms of provoking action in the form of relief and lifesaving support. In support of RI’s work, Fabio Trabocchi Restaruants donated $1 for every dessert sold at their seafood restaurant, Fiola Mare, to Refugees International. The group also supports the conservation and advocacy efforts of the Potomac Conservancy, by donating a portion of the proceeds from cocktails at Fiola Mare and Del Mar.

Since 2012, Fabio has supported Chefs for Equality, a program of the Human Rights Campaign.

Fabio Trabocchi Restaurants support the Careers in the Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP) to develop young talent for careers in the culinary and hospitality industry by hiring summer interns from local high schools in both culinary and pastry.

Fabio Trabocchi Restaurants also participate in the Oyster Recovery Partnership’s Shell Recycling Alliance, providing oyster shells to be cleaned, treated with baby oysters, and restored to oyster reefs in the Chesapeake Bay.

Fabio Trabocchi Restaurants has forged partnerships with collaborators across various industries, all of whom share a desire to be purveyors of tasteful, elegant, and sophisticated experiences.
